Dow Chemical accelerated its business development in China and signed a memorandum of understanding with Longxiang Group on the Tianjin Logistics Center project

(Hong Kong stock exchange code: 935) recently signed the memorandum of cooperation, in tianjin binhai new area in tianjin nangang industrial zone of joint construction of DOW chemical logistics center in tianjin. With a planned investment of us $200 million, the project will be Dow's first chemical logistics center in China and the largest chemical logistics center in the world. The project will serve as a strategic logistics hub to support dow's continued strong business growth in Greater China and North Asia.
"The Tianjin logistics center will play a strategic role in accelerating our growth in China by increasing our investment in local production and supply chain networks, enabling us to better meet the needs of the local market," said Francis Shim, President of Dow Chemical Greater China. "As a vital logistics hub, this project will ensure that we can quickly and efficiently transport chemical raw materials and finished products from overseas to their respective regions in Greater China."
According to the report, the Tianjin logistics center project covers an area of 50 hectares, with direct access to the deep water area and railway system, and the annual throughput of cargo can reach 6 million to 9 million tons. When completed, the center will employ more than 300 skilled technicians. The Tianjin logistics center will also adopt advanced design and the highest industry standards to ensure the safety and environmental protection of its daily operations.
Dow and Longxiang will submit a project application for government approval in the second half of this year. The first phase of the project is expected to be operational in 2016. At the same time, the project also has space to expand into tao's future logistics center on the east coast to support the company's future investment and growth in China.
At present, Dow is vigorously strengthening its supply chain system in China. In April this year, Dow partnered with Tata Information Technology to open a business Service center in Tianjin to further enhance operational excellence and better serve Dow customers, Dow business units and joint ventures in China.
Dow's sales in Greater China reached a record high of more than $4 billion in 2010 and are expected to continue double-digit growth in the coming years. Greater China is now Dow's second largest international market in the world, with 18 manufacturing sites and 6 business centers.
